Jose Mourinho’s version of events regarding Ryan Giggs’ Manchester United exit has left the Welshman angered.
The new Manchester United manager, who was officially unveiled at Old Trafford on Tuesday, claimed Giggs had been offered “any important job” to remain at the club.
According to olayiwola plutoranking`s blog
friends of Giggs, who spent 29 years at United as a player then a
coach, say United’s job offers only included vague development roles
that didn’t involve the first-team.
Mourinho, who brought his long-term colleague Rui Faria to United as his assistant, is not believed to have spoken with Giggs about a position in his team.
At his first press conference on Tuesday, Mourinho said: “It is not
my responsibility that Ryan is not in the club. The job Ryan wanted is
the job the club decided to give me.
“Ryan wanted to be Manchester United manager and the owners, Mr Woodward, decided to give the job to me.”
The 53-year-old was keen to shift any blame for Giggs’ departure away from himself.
He added: “When you are speaking about did I offer he a job, he could
be what he wanted in the club. The club wanted to give him any
important job.”
