McDonald’s invites the Internet to create their own burgers; immediately regrets it
Did no one learn the lessons of Boaty McBoatface?
Don’t put your faith in the Internet. They will let you down and then tell everyone about it on Twitter.
So, perhaps McDonald’s New Zealand should have thought this through a little more. Although, to be fair to them, similar schemes have gone off without a hitch in other countries.
In honour of their new in-store Create Your Taste touch screens, Maccy’s decided to run an online contest where they let New Zealanders build and then name their own burgers. People could then save them on the McDonald’s NZ front page for people to vote on their favourites.
They could also generate a QR code which would allow them to go along to any restaurant and get their burger made.
