Naijaloaded Music Review For 10th July – 16th July
This is the third week of the Naijaloaded Music Review by Owosenii.
It has been an eventful week of good music, some potentials and certified hits.
More songs made it to our 3 categories this week after picking selected songs from all the posted songs from the just concluded week.
Below are the songs that made it into the categories for review released from July 10th to July 16th.
HITS
Champagne By Oladips : You can’t doubt Oladips’ talent. He has finally gone commercial and he has done well with the switch. If you’ve known Oladips from his “Demmie Vee” and “Trillo” days, you’ll know he doesn’t joke with his strict rap hip hop movement. He was very playful on this song coupled with some lowkey vulgar lyrics, that’s just him being a true protegee of El Hadj (Reminisce) who has been successful on the same path.
This is not the first time Oladips has made a potential hit track and nothing happens. This is another certified hit that should do really well, the rest being left to proper promotion which he’ll most likely get from his LRR/Edge Records family. Krizbeat did a great job too but it’s time he switches things up a little bit more.
Kidogo by Diamond Platnumz ft P Square : Diamond Platnumz just scored himself another very big African hit with this record. It is common knowledge that getting Mr P and Rudeboy together as P Square is not an easy task at this very time. Even when they were without issues, you’d do a lot getting P Square on your song. Diamond has successfully made another beautiful music, congratulations to him.
Ayaya by Iyanya ft Ikpa Udo x Upper X : This is great music. Iyanya and the featured artists all jelled together on this very melodious record with a sensational production by Princeton. If the featured artists are going to be on Iyanya’s newly proposed personal record label (as he announced), they can as well start thinking of a joint album in the future.
Fever By Bracket : The production of this song is very impressive. A feel of dance-hall, highlife and house music all at the same time well bridged by the producer and the singing duo matched the quality of the instrumentation. This should easily be a hit if well promoted.
GOOD MUSIC
Excellency by DJ Buckz : A good relaxed dance-hall tune by Ice Prince. The rapper that is now better known for his good looks and recent relationship drama has raised a standard for himself with his past hits and he has been finding it difficult reaching that standard again or even surpassing it.
This Excellency record however, is a good tune, not just his best and it has been a while we have seen him at his best. We hope he’s back on top of his game again real soon.
Condo Remix by Ycee ft Khuli Chana, Kid X : The original of this song did quite well. As much as it feels like the remix of the song is very much needless, it is a strategic move by Ycee to take his craft to the Southern part of Africa by featuring two of their finest rappers. The S.A rappers dropped some bars in their dialect to crown what is already a good record.
Better Dey Come by Base One ft K1 De Ultimate : Fuji meets hip-hop on this joint and it was well blended thanks to the producer. Base One delivers his usual creative bars with very nice flows.
VIP by Sexy Steel : The Bebedi Alhaja crooner impresses on this laid back sound. Definitely not his best but still delivered a certified good music.
145 by Orezi : Very thoughtful of Orezi to come up with this. Trying to get Nigerians to forget the present hardship in the country and have fun with some good music according to the lyrics of the song. Few flat notes but you have to appreciate the effort.
POTENTIALS
Akwe by Keedcoal ft Oladips : Groovy joint by the youngstar, Killertunes is quite underrated, the production of the song is top notch.
Ina (Fire) by T-Tone : Straight to the dance-hall jam, this is a song with so much potential oozing from the artist. The song is fire just like the title.
Everybody by Chinedu Whatedo : Sweet highlife music by the young act with an exceptional delivery on the very good highlife beat.
Shake It by Elev8 : Wonderful effort by the new artist with the support of the ever blazing Fliptyce. The mixing could have been better, still a promising banger
