THE FRENCH President has declared that France is “at war” with ISIS after a wave of terror over the past year and a half.
Francois Hollande immediately took a strong stand after ISIS militants slit the throat of a priest during a brutal attack on a Normandy church.Mr Hollande said: “We are faced by a group, Daesh, that has actually declared war and we have to fight this war using any means possible.”
The President has come under pressure amid allegations that a series of security lapses had undermined the fight against terrorism.
As France wages war on ISIS, here is a look back at the terror attacks there over the past year and a half.
Two ISIS terrorists stormed a church in a suburb of Rouen in northern France on Tuesday July 26.
The knife-wielding attackers slit the throat of elderly priest Father Jacques Hamel in front of nuns and his congregation.
Police shot dead the attackers who have been identified as Adel Kermiche, 19, and his 18-year-old former schoolmate.
