Malia Ann Obama shares her birthday with another big day – the Fourth of July. Each year, the POTUS hosts a barbecue on Independence Day to celebrate members of the armed services and their loved ones, and for his final BBQ as president, Obama spread some cheer to his own family.
On Monday, Obama invited Kendrick Lamar and Janelle Monáe to perform for White House guests and the pair joined in for an impromptu song for the birthday girl.
After all, it’s the job of a father to embarrass his daughter, Obama quipped.

They put in a lot of time and effort on behalf of a lot of causes that are important and I’m really proud of them for that.”
